BoxyCharm January 2018 Review

Disclaimer: I was not paid in any way for this post or for my thoughts on these products. I paid for my subscription myself and wanted to share my thoughts with you all! I have included my BoxyCharm referral link at the bottom of the post.

BoxyCharm came highly recommended by many of my friends who are more on the “Makeup Aficionado” side of the spectrum. It costs a little more than I am used to paying for subscription boxes ($21/Month) but they send full sized products from prestige brands. I decided to give it a try. The one thing that sucks is the Waitlist. I had to wait 3 months for a spot to open up to get my box. Now that I’m off, they will come monthly until I cancel, but the initial wait was torture!

Crown Glam1 9 Color Glam Metals Eyeshadow Palette

Dry Swatches

Some of the colors are super pigmented dry. I absolutely love copper colors, so obviously Rebel is my favorite here. Some of the more brownish tones are kind of hard to tell apart, but the overall quality is generally good.

Wet Brush Swatches

As recommended on the palette, I decided to wet a makeup brush and swatch the colors wet. I was really surprised at how little intensity was given to the “Black Metal” shade, but all the others are much better represented this way. It would be great to create a lid color with the wet brush and then work the crease area with the dry brush colors!

PUR Bronze & Brighten

This appears to be like a super simplified contour palette, but I never really tried contouring before. Maybe that’s a blog post for the future?

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Luminizer Primer

This primer is absolutely AMAZING. I’ve used other primers in the past, but never seemed to notice any difference in the way my makeup applied and stayed on.  With this primer, my makeup went on much more evenly. Even though I forgot to use my trusty setting spray, my foundation stayed put all day until I washed my face that night. Definitely a worthwhile buy!

it Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Brow Pencil In Universal Taupe

I don’t know what sorcery It Cosmetics is working but somehow this Universal Brow Pencil actually gives me eyebrows that don’t look like I sharpie’d them on. I have always struggled so hard with finding a brow pencil that met a happy medium between my blonde eyebrows and the red color I dye my hair. This one actually looks amazing. I’ve never been able to make my brows look this good before (and I was in a super rush while applying the day I took this selfie!)

Like are you for real? Probably not as real as the coffee-dribble stain on my shirt. Nobody’s perfect okay? I said I was in a hurry.

I love the packaging for this product. One end has the twist-crayon for penciling in the feathery strokes of “hair” and the other has a soft spoolie brush to blend with your real eyebrow hairs. Super simple, super effective. This is a product that I will for sure be purchasing again!

Girlactik Matte Lip Paint in Demure

This is the lip color I’m wearing in the selfie above! I love the color, and the lip paint applied super creamy and soft. It doesn’t stay on as well as other brands I have used, it barely took a few sips of coffee before I had to reapply where it was left behind on the lid.

However, one thing Girlactik has on the competitor brands is how my lips feel after. I thought for sure my lips would be dry, but on the contrary; my lips actually feel more hydrated and less chapped than before I wore it! I guess there’s pros and cons to everything, right?

Final Thoughts on BoxyCharm January 2018

Considering I paid just $21 for full-sized makeup products with a collective $ value… I’d say this is way beyond worth it. And I actually recognize some of the brands as being good brands. PUR and It Cosmetics are both names I had heard of before this box. I’m ridiculously excited to get my next box!
