This past weekend, Joe and I took a day trip up to Pine Mountain, LaGrange, and Hogansville to do some exploring/antiquing and just get out of Columbus. We know we want to plan an exclusive trip dedicated to checking out Callaway Gardens, but for today, we were content to explore the city and check out some of the local antique shops. This is our favorite pastime, because even if we don’t buy anything we become inspired and rejuvenated by new sights and experiences!
We also visited the LaGrange Art Museum while in LaGrange, and were able to view their exhibition of Françoise Gilot’s original prints. I was absolutely floored by how stunning her work was and I’m still amazed that I had never heard of her prior to this exhibition. Her work draws heavy influence from Picasso, and is so beautiful and visually interesting!
Saturday morning we went to the local farmer’s market to pick up some produce and have a cup of coffee before hitting up Aldi for our bi-monthly grocery trip. Most of the day was rainy and cool, with the high being only 48 degrees. This made it the perfect time for me to break in this absolutely beautiful new wool coat I purchased from a thrift mall for just $5.55! What a steal! Apart from some small staining on the lining of the coat, it’s in perfect condition, and so warm! I also can’t help but like the Newt Scamander vibes I’m getting from this coat.
I’ve always adored the color combo of rusty orange with blues, so finally getting a good rust-colored top and a killer blue coat into my wardrobe is making the part of me that thrived in my Color Theory course in college super happy right now.
I love the sparkly blues and yellows with the antique gold plating of this necklace. It’s not too overpowering, but it holds its own against the vibrancy of this coat!
